What is Intussusception ?
➥ Intussusception is a serious intestinal problem.
It occurs when one part of the intestine slides inside another part due to which intestine then folds into itself like a telescope.
This creates a blockage or obstruction which stops food that is being digested from passing through the intestine.

Sign & Symptoms:
Infant and children with intussusception have intense abdominal pain that often begins suddenly.
Client will also have other symptoms like passing stools (poop) mixed with blood and mucus, known as currant jelly stool, vomiting grunting due to pain.

What is Rectal polyp ?
The lining of the digestive tract has constantly repair the old cells which die and are shed and replaced by new cells. This renewal process creates an outgrowth of tissue referred to as a polyp that can extend out into the empty space within the stomach, small intestine, or colon.

Sign & Symptoms:

Children with polyps usually pass blood in the stools.
This bleeding does not cause any pain for the child.
It is rare for children to have other symptoms likes crampy abdominal pain, diarrhea with mucus, or even prolapse of the polyp (where the polyp will partially stick out of the rectum while still being attached to the wall of the large intestine).

What is Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) ?

It is a serious illness in newborn especially premature infants.
In Necrotizing enterocolitis, the tissue in the large intestine (colon) become inflamed, which allows the bacteria to invade the intestinal wall.
The common symptoms are undigested feed as because of obstruction the digested food will not move further through the intestine, along with this the symptoms includes hematochezia (refers to passage of bright red blood from the anus, often mixed with stool and/or blood clots).

A Meckel diverticulum is a sac like out pouching of the wall of the small intestine.
Most of children are asymptomatic, but sometimes painless rectal bleeding occurs or the diverticulum becomes infected.
