Defibrillator



This is a device used for electrical pulse therapy of gross cardiac rhythm disturbances. The device generates a short high-voltage pulse that causes complete contraction of the myocardium.

After the heart has completely contracted, there is the possibility of restoring a normal sinus rhythm. It is used during cardiopulmonary resuscitation, during operations accompanied by cardioplegia.

The device is never used in case of asystole (absence of bioelectrical activity of heart, isoline on ECG), as it does not make sense.
