Pregnancy - week by week
A normal pregnancy lasts for about 40 weeks from the first day of menstruation (LMP) to the birth of the baby.
It is divided into three stages, called trimesters.
- First trimester (upto 12 weeks)
- Second trimester ( 13 - 26 weeks), and
- Third trimester ( 27 week to end of pregnancy).
During this, many changes take place in the fetus, we can feel them in different weeks.

| 18 - 20 weeks | FHS audible by Stethoscope |
| 20 weeks | External Ballotment |
| 20 weeks | Palpation of fetal part |
| 20 weeks | Active fetal movement felt by placing a hand on abdomen |
| 24 - 28 weeks | Gestational diabetes screening test |
| 28 weeks | Infant weighs about 1 kg (1,000 g) or 2 lb 2oz |
